STAGES HOTEL Prague, a modern lifestyle hotel located near the O2 arena, the largest Czech arena, and the O2 universum multi-purpose complex, has been awarded the prestigious Building of the Year award for 2022. The expert jury at the 30th annual competition made its selection from 31 nominated buildings. A total of 79 domestic and four foreign projects entered the competition this year.

“STAGES HOTEL Prague, next to the O2 arena, has been in operation for less than a year. Since then, the feedback and ratings of our visitors have been very positive. If the professional public also likes the building, then we have successfully combined the architect’s intentions and goals with the interests of the investor and our guests, which makes us very happy,” said Robert Schaffer, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Bestsport, a.s.

STAGES HOTEL Prague is the third building that Bestsport owns and operates, along with the O2 arena and the O2 universum multi-purpose and congress centre. It is also the third to receive this prestigious award. O2 universum was named Building of the Year in 2020, and the O2 arena (still under the name Sazka Arena) won the award in 2004.

wAccepting the award were Ladislav Chvátal of the PPF Group, to whose portfolio Bestsport belongs, architect Aleš Lapka from ADR Studio, Robert Špott, director of SYNER, which carried out the construction, Jan Větvička, construction manager and technical consultant from Norop, and Ivo Karlický, chief project engineer from AED project. “STAGES HOTEL Prague is a part of a trilogy – the fact that we won the award for the third building only proves how good the team involved in the construction was. It is a huge commitment to ensure that all three of our award-winning buildings serve not only the inhabitants of Prague in the best possible way but also represent the entire Czech Republic,” said Ladislav Chvátal.

STAGES HOTEL Prague was recognized not only for the quality of its construction but also for the building’s overall material and color design. The hotel is distinguished by its unique circular ground plan, which perfectly complements the O2 arena building. The interior of the hotel naturally takes its primary inspiration from music. The reception area is styled like a stage, where every guest can feel like the star of the show upon entering. The musical motifs extend to the rooms themselves. For example, instead of a conventional lamp, a professional spotlight is used; instead of a conventional mirror, there is a theater; and a Bluetooth speaker in each room lets guests play their own music. In the hotel lobby, a “Pick Rain” made up of actual picks was installed, as well as a curtain of LP records that sway to the rhythm of the music coming from the speakers. The picks and LPs are suspended on guitar strings and loaded with microphones and capos.

The eight-storey STAGES HOTEL Prague offers 300 rooms, including 27 suites, with a total of 621 beds, six multi-purpose conference rooms, the modern Backstage Bar with an outdoor terrace and a stylish restaurant with a total capacity of up to 270 guests, a unique Music Lounge for special events, a fitness centre, and an underground garage for 100 vehicles. Indoor public spaces connect directly to the central open atrium with greenery and to the outer piazzetta, which connects the hotel to the neighboring buildings and the newly created pedestrian zone. The hotel opened on November 1, 2021. The built-up area of the hotel is 5,755 m2, and the construction cost was CZK 1.2 billion.

The hotel, part of the Tribute Portfolio group under the Marriott International hotel chain, has previously won several awards for its service. After two months of operation, it was ranked among the top five hotels of 2021 based on customer satisfaction. In terms of customer satisfaction with F&B service in the first quarter of this year, STAGES HOTEL Prague ranked was the top of all Tribute Portfolio hotels in the EMEA.
